September 17 2024 | 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM132 Mulberry Street, No. 502, New York, NY 10013
Welcome to READ THE ROOM, a series of readings by some of New York's leading writers. Our guest readers represent a broad cross-section of the literary world, featuring authors of published works from top magazines, newspapers, websites and books.
For this installment, we are featuring a reading and conversation with Michael Riedel, theater critic, WOR radio host, and author of Razzle Dazzle: The Battle For Broadway and Singular Sensation: The Triumph of Broadway.
On Razzle Dazzle: “Riedel brings enthusiasm and authority to this rich, lively debut history of New York theater in the 1970s and '80s…. Riedel masterfully builds suspense as he chronicles productions from idea to stage to reviews to Tony Awards. A captivating gift to theater lovers.” ― Kirkus (starred)
On Singular Sensation: “a fly-on-the-wall view of backstage infighting, struggles and victories making for a jolly read.”—The Wall Street Journal
Your hosts: Ronnie Rodriguez and Kathleen Squires, Chef’s Dinner Table
Not only are we serving up a buffet of contemporary literature, we are also sharing Italian food (it’s San Gennaro Festival, people!) and dessert by Taste It Presents; plus wine, beer and soft drinks too!
